A copyright is the exclusive, legal right of ownership of and control over a creative work. Ownership of a copyright grants the owner exclusive rights to reproduce, publish, license, sell and otherwise exploit an artistic work. Works granted such rights by law after January 1, 1978 are protected for the creator's lifetime plus 70 years after the creator's death.
